Braised Pork Chops with Red Cabbage and Pears

What you need:
* 6 pork chops, 1/2-in. thick
* 2 tsp. oil
* 1 tsp. salt
* 1/4 tsp. dried sage
* 1/4 tsp. thyme
* 1/8 tsp. ground black pepper
* 2 slices bacon, diced
* 4 c. coarsely shredded red cabbage
* 1 c. sliced onion
* 1/2 c. water
* 1/4 c. cider vinegar
* 1/4 c. brown sugar
* 2 medium ripe pears, cored and sliced
What to do:
1. Heat oil in large skillet over medium-high heat; brown pork chops on one side, about 3-4 min.; turn and sprinkle with salt, sage, thyme and pepper. Remove chops from skillet and set aside.
2. Add bacon to skillet and cook just until crisp; add cabbage and onions. Cook and stir over medium heat 5 min.; add 1/2 c. water, vinegar, brown sugar; mix well.
3. Top with reserved pork chops, cooked side up; add sliced pears atop chops; cover and simmer 8 min. until internal temperature on a thermometer reads 145°F, followed by a 3-min. rest time.
